Swanson

Writing Advisor

Hallie grew up in London, attending St Pauls’ Girls’ School before going on to study at Columbia University (BA, Comparative Literature) and Oxford University (MSc, Modern South Asian Studies). She is now writing her PhD dissertation on Indo-Persian manuscripts at the University of Pennsylvania. An experienced grant writer, Hallie has secured research funding from the Victoria and Albert Museum, Rare Book School, and the U.S. Department of Education, among other bodies. She uses her personal experience of the US and UK education systems, as well as her editing skills, to support students with their college essays as they reflect on their values and motivations, develop their ideas, and articulate their contribution to their future university community. At Columbia, Hallie was editor-in-chief of two student publications; at Oxford, she edited a journal of international relations; and as a teaching assistant at UPenn, she worked with undergraduates on their academic writing.
